Survive The Heat With These Summer Season Must-Haves
It is a well-known fact that the summer season can be quite unforgiving to one’s overall appearance and well-being. Whether it is going through the suffering from melted makeup or dealing with frizzy hair, do not worry because here are some tips (and some product recommendations!) to help you conquer several beauty mishaps that you may encounter during this hell of a season.
Use sun protection!
It is important to shield yourself from the sun’s harmful rays by using no less than sunscreen. Use one with a minimum of SPF 30 on your face and body. However, do take note that you need to use sunscreen with higher SPF if you are out in the sun for longer periods. You also need to use sunscreen that is specific for your face and your body—and skin type! Try using these:
- Biore UV Watery Essence with SPF 50+ PA++++
- Celeteque Sun Care Face and Body Sun Defense Cream
- Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer with SPF 50
- Belo SunExpert Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50
- Nivea Sun Protect & Refresh Invisible Cooling Mist with SPF 50
Set it well.
If you wear makeup, it is highly likely that the summer heat and the different forces of nature will eat it up. Make your makeup stay until sundown by using a setting spray. Try L’Oreal’s Infallible Pro Spray and Set Makeup Extender and Setting Spray, as well as Nyx’s Makeup Setting Sprays, which come in matte and dewy finishes.
Ditch the heavy base.
Skip the full-coverage foundations and face powders. Instead, embrace lighter bases such as BB/CC creams for everyday use. We love Pond’s Flawless White BB Cream and Olay’s Total Effects CC cream for their light, buildable coverage and added skincare benefits.
Your kikay kit may need more than your usual products. Stash some makeup in cream or gel formulas, such as a long-wearing lip and cheek product and a brow pen. Try The Body Shop’s Lip and Cheek Tint if you are looking for lip and cheek products that wouldn’t budge, while K-Palette’s brow pens are well-loved by beauty bloggers for its staying power.
You also need Oil blotting sheets (or tissue) to help you freshen up and get rid of unnecessary shine on your face in the middle of a hot summer day. We recommend Bench’s Prescribe Oil Control Film.
Care for your hair.
The summer season can bring hair and scalp-related problems too, such as damaged hair, irritated scalp, and discoloration. Combat these problems by using products and practicing certain routines that are targeted for each hair and scalp concern, such as using conditioner daily if you have dry and damaged hair. For colored hair, it’s much more advisable if you use color-safe shampoos and conditioners to protect your color from fading and to keep your hair nourished. On the other hand, if you have an itchy, irritated scalp, dandruff shampoos are your easy bet.
The summer season can take a toll on your beauty game, but once you have these tips on lock, looking good and feeling good will definitely be a breeze.
