Don’t Miss Holi Festival in Manila This Weekend
Not doing anything this Sunday? Then take part in the biggest color festival from India!
Holi is an annual celebration which celebrates the coming of spring. It is also known as the festival of colors or the festival of sharing love. For Hindus, it is one of the most important and most fun religious festivals.
The Holi festival is perhaps most known for the way people celebrate–they sing and dance and throw colored powder. The colored powder, called gulal, symbolizes the beautiful hues of spring, as well as friendship and unity. It is no wonder why this festival is celebrated all over the world with non-Hindus in attendance, too!
Asia Society, along with SM By The Bay, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce, the Embassy of India, Indian Ladies Club, and SingIndia Music of the Soul is bringing the Holi festival back to Manila! Asia Society has spearheaded the celebration of Holi for four years now, and each event gets bigger and better.
Besides the much-awaited colored powder, you can expect a slew of cultural performances, live DJs and drummers, yummy Indian food, mehndi applications, booths selling Indian knick-knacks, raffles, and more!
Bring your family and friends and experience the rich cultural heritage India has to offer. Just remember to wear a white shirt you won’t mind getting dirty and you’re all set. Don’t forget to tweet your photos with the hashtag #HoliMNL2016! See you there!
Holi in Manila 2016 is on Sunday, March 20, at SM By The Bay from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Presale tickets are available at SM Tickets for PHP150 and tickets will be available onsite for PHP200. For more information, you can check out the Asia Society website.
