Meet Six Women Who Can Be Our Future Bets For Miss Universe
The Miss Universe fever this year is through the roof! We have to thank the outgoing Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach and the Pinoy pageant fever (from the past few years)! But for the first time ever, the Miss Universe 2016 will be held here in the Philippines on January 30! If you are an ardent follower of beauty pageants, this is the first time in 22 years that the Philippines will be hosting the Miss Universe pageant. These past few weeks, we have witnessed the countless preparations and events leading up to the most beautiful night in the universe! While we’re rooting for Maxine Medina, we also thought of six women who have tremendous potential to represent the Philippines in the future. Here are our bets for Miss Universe in the years to come:
Laura Lehmann is no stranger to the pageant scene. In 2014, she was crowned as first runner-up in Binibining Pilipinas. Since then, she has made a name for herself as a host and courtside reporter in various tournaments—UAAP and Shakey’s V-League to name a few! Just like many pageant enthusiasts, we’re hoping that Laura could make a return to the Bb. Pilipinas stage.
Why she’s a Miss Universe future bet material: Aside from her pageant experience and her recent successes as a host, she can make a tremendous impact with her charm, beauty, and intelligence.
One of the most in-demand models in the Philippines today, Kelsey Merrit has appeared in some of the biggest magazines in the country. She’s been the face for numerous campaigns for major brands like Kashieca, Jollibee, and Lazada. Kelsey is also steadily making a name for herself in the international modeling scene. She’s appeared in magazines such as Seventeen and advertisements for brands such as Uniqlo, Vera Wang, and Steve Madden! We’re so jealous that she also got to work with Gigi Hadid for Maybelline.
Why she’s a Miss Universe future bet material: Kelsey’s modeling experience has taken her to new heights, and her dedication to her studies have gained the admiration of peers and fans alike. We think that her determination, intelligence, and tremendous potential will get her very far in anything that she sets her mind to. Should she open her doors to beauty pageants, we will root for her all the way.
3Monika Sta. Maria
As one of the most popular models in the country, Monika Sta. Maria first came to prominence in 2012 when she won the title of Century Tuna Superbods. She has appeared in some of the country’s major magazines, such as Cosmopolitan, Mega, and Metro. However, her major breakthrough came when she joined the third cycle of Asia’s Next Top Model and emerged as the runner-up. Aside from modeling, Monika is also a dedicated athlete and fitness enthusiast!
Why she’s a Miss Universe future bet material: Aside from her looks and build, Monika’s dedication to wellness is inspiring! Not to mention, Monika has a lively personality that people will definitely enjoy!
Kaila Estrada may have showbiz pedigree (her parents are actors John Estrada and Janice de Belen), but she is steadily making a name for herself in the modeling industry. She is an ambassador for SM Youth and has appeared on runways for some of the country’s most popular designers. Aside from modeling, Kaila is also a student at De La Salle-College of St. Benilde, where she is taking up Arts Management.
Why she’s a Miss Universe future bet material: We honestly think that Kaila’s star will continue to rise and see nothing but great things for her in the near future—no matter what path she takes in life.
Aside from being a model, Natasha Bautista has also made waves in the tech industry as a former executive for Grab Philippines. Through her leadership, Natasha spearheaded the launch of GrabCar and led Grab to be one of the most popular transportation services today. Her drive and determination to lead in a male-dominated field are admired by many, and her example will definitely inspire women to pursue a career in tech, as well as take on leadership roles in whatever field they want to pursue!
Why she’s a Miss Universe future bet material: Natasha’s beauty, drive, and impressive tech background is something to be inspired by. Her passion for innovation will definitely make a difference in society!
Katarina Rodriguez first came to prominence when she became a contestant in the second cycle of Asia’s Next Top Model. Even though Katarina didn’t win, she has gained the admiration of fans all over the region for her striking features and passion for modeling. Aside from being a model, Katarina is also a student, athlete, cycling instructor, and MTV VJ! She is also an ambassador for The Red Whistle, a collaborative platform that advocates HIV/AIDS awareness.
Why she’s a Miss Universe future bet material: Katarina’s striking features, athleticism, and lively personality can definitely strike a chord with many people. Not to mention, Katarina is also dedicated to important causes, too!
