These Spots With Live Bands In Manila Will Not Disappoint
It’s more fun in the Philippines, they say. This includes experiencing live music. Let us give you a little tour of where to catch your favorite live bands in Manila!
Manila never sleeps. It is perhaps as alive at night as it is in the morning. On most days, night time can get even more interesting than Manila mornings. Night time is when people are letting off steam from work. It is also when friends and families are out spending dinner and post-dinner together. Most importantly, this is the time when the music comes up.
Yes, music, of course. Manila is gifted with great music having thousands of musicians living in it. Luckily enough, Manila has several venues all over the city where you can easily catch them! To make things easier for you, we listed the best places with live bands in Manila.
112 Monkeys Music Hall and Pub
This bar sets the standard of gig places high. How can it not, it is owned by a number of great musicians we have. In here you can find bands of different genres on different nights. You can go from alternative rock to acoustic, from seeing independent bands to veteran musicians. On top of all that, they serve revamped Filipino food best eaten with ice-cold beer.
SaGuijo is a more intimate venue for music, but definitely just as alive as any other place where you can catch great talent and fun. Not anymore foreign to music fans, SaGuijo has been home to notable live music for several years now. This one is a must-visit for those who want to experience how thrilling it is to see both musicians and fans come together in a limited space filling each corner with that passion for the craft of music.
It may not be fancy, but live bands in Manila are always at home here. On good gig days, it may not even be so comfortable with the number of people. However, those won’t matter. When the band plays, when the crowd sings along, everything around you starts to feel good.
P.S. Watch out for the fishball cart that passes by during the night. Nothing like the beer and fishball combo at midnight!

3The Brewery at The Palace
The Brewery at the Palace is a place like no other. It’s a well-conceptualized microbrewery which also serves as a stage for several musicians of various genres. They have nights wherein they feature alternative music. Other nights, they even have a jazz band playing on stage. They also have the weekly Acousteoke if you feel like joining the music!
What we uniquely love about this place is their beers are brewed on site! Imagine that, excellent music and freshly brewed beer. It’s the best combo for a perfect night out.

4Craft Rock and Grill
In BGC, if you’re down for some rock and roll instead of the usual EDM, this is where you go. Craft is always known to be that one spot in the Fort Strip where live rock music can be heard in the midst of tugs-tugs music. What’s fun here is that they have bands playing original songs on some days and cover bands who play on other days. Whatever band it may be, it’s sure to be a good one!

B-Side is the bar that constantly changes its face. It is more commonly known for the event Irie Sundays which happens every Sunday evening where they feature live reggae performers. However, on some days, they turn the outside area into a massive rock and roll venue. Other times, they have small gigs. It somehow reinvents itself around the music realm every week which makes it a lot more exciting to visit.
7274 Malugay st. Makati, Philippines
Open from Wednesday to Sunday 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
Another venue that has been popular to music lovers is this humble spot right on the end of Katipunan Extension. This place, despite the intimacy of space, gets filled with so much energy as the nights get deeper. Just like with most places with live bands in Manila, Route 196 has been a witness to several performers playing different kinds of music for years now. It is also a great place to discover new up and coming bands and meet new friends. They also have great food!

Although fairly new, Mow’s easily became a famous spot for live performances in the Metro. Here you can often find up and coming bands perform. Alongside these bands, there are also events that feature open mic nights and even non-music performances like spoken word events.
This is a spot for brewing artists. Visiting here always means hearing something fresh and usually of people filled with potential. It’s the best kind of fresh air you can garner from Manila’s music scene. There’s also a bonus of having this place right beside a Kowloon House joint. You know, for drunk munchies.

Open from Monday to Saturday 7:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Amidst the bustling area of Visayas Ave is a quaint venue tucked silently from the road by a garden. It is an oasis, so to speak. Stepping inside it feels like another world, having a garden so lush and a house full of music and visual artistry. The house acts as one-part gig place and other-part art gallery. Here you can find both veterans and new artists playing alongside each other.
Many play acoustic sets of several genres of music. Unlike most places with live bands in Manila, we have never quite seen this place loud and wild. It’s mostly very serene and intimate. Like a usual jamming session with your closest friends. Conspiracy Café actually feels like home.

9The 70’s Bistro
This bar is turning 25 this year. Yes, you got that right. 25 years old and they’re still providing a stage for musicians both old and new. They are still a must-go-to bar for great music. They fill their space with music fans till dawn.
The 70’s Bistro is a constant witness to the growth of musicians in the city. Providing the experience of a full band set-up, nights in 70’s usually drown you in excellent music and a lot of beer. Although it has already stood for almost 25 years, we don’t think this one is going to close their doors to music anytime soon.

While most gig spots are in the northern part of the city, the south of Metro Manila also has its own gig place. 19 East is one of the most popular places with live bands in Manila. Like most of the longstanding gig establishments in the country, this one has seen really awesome nights of music featuring both the biggest and the newest bands Manila has to offer.
It retains its glory to this day. So much so that on some instances, people from up north of Manila travel all the way here to catch certain performances. 19 East is a venue for all kinds of music and audiences; for the young and not-so-young, for the new bands to the veterans, for jazz musicians to hardcore rock and roll. 19 East never disappoints. We don’t think it ever will.

This is why, despite all the chaos and the traffic, we love Manila. It’s a city that never sleeps and that has a lot of beer. Plus, a lot of live bands in Manila to catch. To us, that sounds pretty awesome.
