This month opens with a fantasy film—a seemingly perfect transition coming out of the Halloween vibe. But A Monster Calls is nothing horrifying, but rather, deeply touching. This film adaptation of a novel by Patrick Ness tells the story of Conor, an only child to a single mother who is suffering cancer.

Adding insult to injury, Conor is also battling against anger, indifference, and bullying by the people he is surrounded with. At a point in the story, he repeatedly encounters a monster in his dreams. If this monster will turn out to be a gift or a nightmare is something we would have to see in the movie!
